Ever wonder why Colombia has so many problems? 7 years living here I think I know why. I have put a business here and it is something you should never o in Colombia. The people here are so envies that if it is a success your friends and anyone else will pick you apart, steal from you, stab ou in the back and do any number of cowardes acts to ruin you.

In the movi Scarface. Tony Montana makes a comment that he does not like Fucking Colombians. Well fucking them is about all they are good for. Beyond that they are snakes. You can not do them a favor they will tear you apart for it. You can not be nice to them they will take advantage. You have to instill fear in them and then they respect you.

In my time here I am convined that the only people here with any honor are the mafia. Everyone else is son of a bitch.

Examples in my time here. Where I have my store the owner of the complex had a problem with a gang. They showed up all hot that he supposed dissrespected the capos girlfriend. No ne stood with him but one. That one was me. I had a problem with this gang after that, threatening me and whatever. I had to take care of that and did. But the night they were to come again I stood alone there with one frien. ONE, all the other men left the place and only the women were left running te shops at closing time. COWARDS! I had people up the street ready to remove this asshole capo from the planet but no one else knew that. My friend did not know that until we left and they left with us.

So yesterday the owner who I stook up for who did not even show after saying he ould that night. All the talk all the men it was jsut that no one showed up they all vanished He then comes for the rent 10 days early. He changed the date I rented the place. SOB

I gave a friend a job, he was selling stuff off the books and pocketing the money. I know for sure because one item came returned and there is no record of the sale. Did him a favor....gave him a job...SOB That was the second time, everyone taking advantage, everyone comming out of the woodwork to take your profits or ask for them and if you don't give then you are the SOB.

Did another favor and one phone that I use for the business was a number I liked. A friend needed a cell phone I changed the cell phone for the number. Things are going well in the business so he blocks the phone. Now he wants money. I know stupid on my part to trust him, this is a guy I had helped many times a long time friend. SOB

The list could go on and on. The gossip the lack of trust in your friends with information or personal disscussions. There loyalty is always to the Colombian and ALWAYS to the Chisma gossip.

I have been around the world and have never known people like this. They are Sons of bitches all of them and the women are whores.

The women milk you for every last dime they can, never come into the gap to be at your side just take and take like it is their right because they gave you what they have between their legs. That is a whore anyway you slice it. Love is just a game nothing more than that. Words mean nothing all you have is their actions that you can trust are the real deal.

That is the truth my friends. This place is full of Sons of Bitches. I am not sure that anymore helping the kids here is worth it. It is like throwing a bucket of sand on the beach.

But why is it fucked up? Well no one work together to make anything better. It is all about me me me. The envy keep everyone trampling on everyone elses gains or potential until what you have is just shit. They deserve what they have, they earned it. Now that the economy has turned it is getting worse. It won't be long before they are right back int eh shit situation they were before.

Basically it is the people and anyone saying these people are the best in the world is mistaken. It appears that way but deep down they are envies little children that have no honor, none.

DG....How right you are, these slimy Colombians are not to be trusted, their president is one BIG stinking low inmoral criminal drug traffiking slime of the earth, the people praised and adore him, thats because he is a reflection of what the Colombian people are. How can people go around saying Colombia has change? "A wolf may shed his coat but never its habits" Colombia is not getting safer, its all a myth. Colombians are filled with greed, they do anything to fullfilled their self egotistical hunger, they lie, cheat, steal and kill just to get a hold a few cents, the women sell their souls for a dollar.

Yep that is the basis for all of it. I have tried changing friends tried to place trust in the "better" people they have some shit in the water here that makes it just like you say. They produce drugs that destroy lives around the world and they profit from it and all they can do from President on down is point their finger. It truly is incredible to me that anyone including me could ever have seen it any different..

The most ironic of this is that all them will tell you straight to your face "llo no fui" like you say from the president down no one takes responsibility for their lies, theft and deceit.

yep exactly right! You got it right I wish more people could see it. Maybe it would invoke some change but I doubt that will happen. People just bail on this place and I don't blame them.

I would think the upper middle class with visas, good educations, etc.... , are not quite as bad, as the barrio type you descibe.

Some of them but it depends it is a trade off. Those types will not stick with you. When the gang was comming it was me and the guy who sold plants and that was it. He was no Ivy league the rest were no where. They are all this way man I have had friends in all socio economic groups. The upper class when they do it to you it hurts more than the little guy and beleive me I could tell a story or two about getting fucked by these people in business deals because they were given a little trust, just to do the right thing and they could have gone either way. Could have done the right thing and it would not have cost them anything more or less than being a total fucking prick.

But they do not want to see anyone else get ahead they are as envies as anyone else it is only the things that change. It is just Colombian and people I know deal with it all the time in business here upper class and lower class no different Envy you have got to look out for it man it is a bitch. It is the biggest enemy here not FARC not street crime.

How do multi-national companies deal with these Colombian people then? You cannot micro-manage everything, alot countries have contracts with Colobian companies.
What do I look for when hiring a Colombian executive ? or a techical professional , like an engineer?

They compromise productivity for cheap labor and hopefully come out ahead. In business it is always my opinion that you have to play the game. If the executive does not live in the right neighborhood and hang with the right people then well he is going to put your company at a huge dissadvantage. Of course also he should be a hard worker, knowledgeable and a proven track record in his field but beyond that like I said it is a compromise because these people do not understand a normal US workday. I suppose they maybe get it done in two and if they were to take three it would still be cheaper than paying US wages, rent and production costs. Thinking of it any other way about your 6th holiday before half the year is over you will have commited suicide... jaja
